Man with a van questions in Southampton
Plain answers to the questions people ask on local groups before they book a van. Each one links to the page with the detail.
Nothing is taken until your driver confirms. Pay them the rest when the job is done.
How much does a man with a van cost in Southampton?
The price is set for your job: the driver's drive is included, plus the loading and unloading time you choose. Bigger vans cost more, and each driver sets their own prices, so the form lists local drivers with their price for your job, cheapest first. If the job runs over the time you booked, extra time is charged at the driver's rate, which you see before you book. Tolls and parking charges are paid on top.
Can I ride in the van?
Often, but it depends on the driver and whether the van has a spare seat. Ask the driver when they get in touch after accepting your request. If there is no seat, meet the van at the other end.
Can I book for today?
You can request a same-day job and there is no surcharge for it. Whether a driver is free depends on the day. Pay the deposit to send the request and you will hear from a driver, or the deposit is released.
Is there a helper?
The driver loads and unloads with you in the time you book. For a second pair of hands, choose a driver who can bring a helper; the form shows which, and the price with them. You are welcome to help with loading yourself to keep the time down.
How does payment work?
A deposit is held on your card to secure the booking, and nothing leaves your account until your driver confirms. You pay the rest to the driver when the job is done, by cash or bank transfer.
What happens if the driver cannot do it?
The request is passed to another local driver. If no driver can take the job, the deposit is released and nothing is charged.
Which van do I need?
A Medium van for a student room, a studio or a few pieces of furniture. A Large van for a one-bed flat. A Luton for a two-bed flat or a small house. The van sizes page describes what fits in each.
Where can the van park?
On a drive or in a private car park if you have one. On a yellow line to load, but not to wait. In a pay and display bay reserved through the council for £14 a day. The parking guide explains each option.
